Anna F. Sawtelle passed away Wednesday June 8, 2016 at her residence at the age of 95. She was born September 15, 1920 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Edna Mae Mighell and George Federius. She married Daniel Wayne Sawtelle and they were married for 58 years. During WWII, she was a foreman at a defense plant. In 1951 she moved to West Point and worked for the Housing Authority where she retired after 50 years of service. Mrs. Anna was a former member and president of the West Point Pilot Club. She also served as a Girl Scout Leader and a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts.
Funeral Service will be Friday June 10, 2016 at 11 AM at Robinson Chapel with Rev. Kirby Loyd officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Robbie Robinson, Chuck Leonard, George Sawtelle, Jason Gilliland, John Smith, James Harrison. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Clark, Robert Guest, Dr. Andrew Wartak, Ken Harrelson, Bret Miller, Kenny Dill, Russ Walker, and George Watson. Visitation will be Friday from 9-11 AM at the Robinson Funeral Home.
She is survived by her son, David Sawtelle (Ruth) of Cedar Bluff; brothers-in-law, Gerald Sawtelle of Wisconsin, Richard Sawtelle (Sharron) of California; sister-in-law, Martha Carr (Albert) of Ohio; 2 grandchildren, Mary Ann Gilliland (Jason) of West Point, Mandi Wilkerson of Tennessee; 4 great-grandchildren, Kadence Butler, Jacie Gilliland, Jessie Wilkerson, Brienna Wilkerson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; father and mother-in law, George and Florence Sawtelle; sister, Alice Mae Bromley.
