Arlon Hopkins

Arlon Ray Hopkins, 67, died February 19, 2014 at North Mississippi Medical Center-West Point. Visitation will be from 5-7 on Friday, February 21 at Robinson Funeral Home in West Point. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 PM February 22 at Robinson Funeral Home. Arlon was born March 4, 1946 in Paris, TN. He moved to Tupelo, MS where he graduated from Tupelo High School in 1965. He made his home in West Point and was a dedicated employee of Bryan Foods for 34 years-- earning the coveted President's Award for Fiscal Year 1989. After his retirement from Bryan Foods, he was able to embrace his passion for antique furniture. Arlon and his wife, Emily, opened Windmill Antiques in West Point in 2001 and closed the business December 28, 2013. Arlon spent much of his time researching antiques and building relationships with his customers. Arlon was a man of integrity who put others before himself. He planned annual events for both family and friends - which always included great food - as he recognized the importance of staying connected. Arlon was an avid Ole Miss fan and enjoyed traveling to football games to support the Rebels. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren—Lucas and Sawyer—whom he loved dearly. Some of his greatest joy came from playing with them and being their Pop Pop. Arlon is preceded in death by his parents Roy Andrew Hopkins and Robbie Smith Hopkins; his two brothers Fred Allen Hopkins and Gerald Weeks Hopkins all of Paris, TN; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law Thurman Allen Watson and Lillian Felder Watson of West Point, MS. Arlon is survived by his wife of 45 years, Emily Watson Hopkins; son Ray Hopkins (Ann-Hoover) of Saltillo; grandson Lucas Hopkins and granddaughter Sawyer Hopkins of Saltillo. He is also survived by his siblings: Barbara Montgomery (Jim) of Germantown, TN; Glenda Hopkins of Germantown, TN; Charles Hopkins (Edna) of Paris, TN; Sherry Fulton (Steve) of Franklin, TN; many nieces/nephews and great nieces/nephews whom he loved very much. Pallbearers will be: Gary Hamilton, Robbie Wooten, Mort Stroud, Jerry Blackwell, Milton Hartley, Jimmy Benson, Chris Wooten, and Matt Wooten. Honorary Pallbearers will be: members of the Wednesday night supper club; members of the Spring golf group; members of the Rebel/Bulldog group; Dr. Ed Miller; Lee Gordon; Dr. Jimmy Hamilton; Robin White; Kris White; Zebbie Dees; Elmon Walls; and all of his Bryan Foods Friends. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to First Baptist Church of West Point or the charity of your choice.
