Billy Marion Hood, Jr., “Bill”, 67, died November 4, 2021 at Bristol Hospice in Fresno, CA from advanced COPD. He was born on August 13, 1954, in West Point, MS to Billy Marion Hood, Sr. and Maxine Winters Hood. He had one brother, Harold Lloyd “Bubba” Hood, two and a half years younger. The family moved from West Point to Jackson, and later to Tupelo where he graduated from Tupelo High School in the class of 1972. Soon after he graduated the family moved to Signal Mountain, TN. While in Tupelo, Bill, who always loved nature, hiking, camping, etc, was an active Boy Scout and earned his God and Country, and Eagle Scout.
After working for awhile in Signal Mountain, Bill moved to the Fresno, CA area. There he worked many years for Terminix Pest Control, until a back injury and back surgery ended that career. He made his home in the mountain town of Auberry, CA and when he could no longer work full-time, he worked part-time in the local coffee shop. He loved wilderness hiking, fishing, photographing nature, and gardening; as well as all animals, especially his dogs. He grew fruit, vegetables, and flowers. He was also known to rescue and rehab more than one wild animal in his life.
He was predeceased by his father, and brother. He is survived by his mother, Maxine Winters Wiggins of Signal Mtn, nephew, Christopher Ian Hood of Knoxville, TN, niece, Rhiannon Hood of Oak Ridge, TN, Uncle Clayton Winters of Akron, AL, Aunt Kathleen (Charlie) Griffin of Ethelsville, AL, and numerous cousins.
