Donald Wheeler Mulkey
Donald Wheeler Mulkey, 71, passed away April 6, 2011 at Darlington Oaks Hospice in Verona, Ms. Mr. Mulkey was born December 1, 1939 in Acworth, Ga. to the late Ollie Mae Pope and Benjamin Wheeler Mulkey. He was a retired fitter from B&W. He loved to grow a garden and keep a beautiful yard, and was a former Sunday School teacher at Siloam Baptist Church where he was a member.
Funeral services for Mr. Mulkey will be Friday at 3pm at Robinson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. James Towery and Joe Vaughn officiating. Visitation will be from 1-3pm Friday at Robinson Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Benjamin Mulkey, J.J. Mulkey, Damon Frenes, Phillip Jenkins, Ricky Grizzle, and Jay B. Phelps. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Darlington Oaks Hospice, West Point Community Living Center, and North Mississippi Medical Center; Dr. Ed Miller; and his former coworkers from B&W Ray Wilbur and Jerry Davis.
Survivors include his wife Helen Phelps Mulkey of West Point, Ms. one son Jeffery Mulkey (Christina) of Cedar Bluff, Ms., 1 daughter Deana Frenes of West Point, Ms., five sisters Oneidea James, Betty Grizzle (Earl), Helen Higgins, Shirley Grizzle, and Joan Parks (Donald) all of Acworth, Ga.; six grandchildren Melinda Mulkey, Benjamin Mulkey, J.J. Mulkey, Damon Frenes, Zoey Mulkey, and D.J. Mulkey; and a special cousin Martha Jenkins of Acworth, Ga.
Mr. Mulkey was preceded in death by his parents.
