Dr. Charles Davis Miles, a beloved physician and cherished member of the West Point, Mississippi community, passed away on February 5,2025. He was born in Bruce, MS on October 26, 1944, to Charles and Juanita Miles.

Dr. Miles graduated from University High School in Oxford, Mississippi, and afterwards attended the University of Mississippi where he played trombone as a member of the Ole Miss marching band. He then attended the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he earned his MD and completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Following his medical training, Dr. Miles served his country in the US Navy, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Commander before receiving an honorable discharge. After his service in the Navy, Dr. Miles dedicated himself to serving the healthcare needs of his fellow Mississippians.

In 1973 Dr. Miles established a private practice in Columbus, MS, where he served patients with dedication and compassion for over 35 years. He was deeply respected and loved by his patients and colleagues. Dr. Miles delivered over 11,000 babies who grew up to become valued members of the community. His impact in Columbus and West Point extended beyond delivering babies; he was a trusted advisor and friend to many families, providing guidance and support through life's challenges.

Beyond his medical practice, Dr. Miles contributed to his profession through his service on the Mississippi Board of Medical Licensure for 12 years, where he served a term as president. In his leisure time, Dr. Miles was an avid golfer. He was known for his quick wit and jovial nature, always ready with a joke to brighten someone's day. His wit and humor left a lasting impression with anyone he met. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Dr. Miles is survived by his wife Judith Carter Miles; his sons Stephen Davis (Sonya) Miles and Charles Cooper (Sherrie) Miles; sister Deborah Miles Lampton; granddaughter Saylor Annabell Miles. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Ann Cooper Miles.

 Funeral services will be 12 PM Saturday February 8, 2025 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Brandon Bates officiating. Visitation with family and friends will be 10-12 PM Saturday at the church. Interment will follow with Military Honors at Greenwood Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers are Ray Darty, Neil Dabbs, Barton Lampton, Jamie Baucom, Tyler Craddock, Tim Yelverton, Andrew Adams, Keith Kenne. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Ned Miller, Gene Smith, Calvin Campbell, Dr. Robert Voller, William “Bill” Blair, Jerry Ishee, Toni Rosettie, Bill McGuire, Bunk Harpole, Roger Merchant, Bill Downing, Rodney Mortimer, Don Callaway, Benny Gibson, Joe Neely, Rick Whitacre, Frank Hopper, Tommy Barkley, Steve Hawkins, Chuck Carson, Will Hudson, Mark Griner, Bill Carroll, Mike Adams, John Smith, Bill Clements, Key Blair, Dr. Barry Bertolet, Leslie Lampton, Vick Schaeffer, Bob Marshall, Joel Williams, Gene Murray.
