Fred Carroll Martin

Fred Carroll Martin passed away Saturday July 14, 2018 at his residence at the age of 97. He was born June 1, 1921 to the late Robert and Myrtie Sellers Martin. He was a veteran of the US Coast Guard and served in WWII. He was a member of the First Church of Nazarene in Hattiesburg, a member of the American Legion and a member of Sons of the Confederate Veterans.

Funeral services will be 3 PM Saturday July 21, 2018 at Robinson Chapel with the Rev. Patricia Cantrell officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Zachary Martin, Sam Beatty, Jimmy Harris, Ken Harden, Mark Tarver, and Charlie Daigle. Honorary pallbearers will be his friends at the American Legion.

Visitation will be Saturday 2-3 PM at Robinson Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife of 76 years, Miriam Lowery Martin of West Point; son, Michael A. Martin (Rhonda) of Pass Christian; daughters, Barbara Martin of Long Beach, MS, Patricia M. Cantrell of West Point; 13 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Fred C. Martin, Jr; 2 brothers, Jack L Martin, Robert E Martin, Jr.

Memorials may be made to the Veteran’s Home on Oxford or Kosciusko.
