LTC. Harold Max Colbert, USArmy (Ret) passed away on Tuesday December 24, 2013 at his residence in Cedar Bluff at the age of 81. He was born August 11, 1932 in West Point, MS to the late Harold Lee Colbert and Maxine Holmes. He served 20 years in the US Army and retired as a LT. Colonel and fought in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was also into landscaping and cattle farming.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Saturday December 28, 2013 at Robinson Chapel with Bro. Andy Parish officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 1 PM to service time at Robinson Funeral Home. Burial will follow with Military Honors in Cedar Bluff Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Brian Barksdale, Joey Freeland, David Colbert, Bryan Dowdy, Michael Kramer, Jeremy Moreland, Jason Colbert, Jimmy Miller. Honorary pallbearers are Rush Robinson, Robbie Robinson, Jimmie Holmes, Barney Forbes, Kent Watson, John William Watson, Joe Francis, Jimmy Donahoo, friends of the West Point High School class of 1950.
He is survived by his wife of almost 63 years, Margaret Sue Colbert; son, John Colbert (Marcy) of Rochester, MN; daughters, Beth Colbert Vail of Columbus, Sandy freeland (Ronnie) of Oklahoma City, OK; brother, Frank Colbert (Bettye) of Houston, TX; sister, Catherine Mathews (Doug) of Cold Springs, TX; 6 grandchildren, Lisa Moreland (Jeremy), David Colbert, Sarah Beth Kramer (Michael), Joey freeland, Lauren Dowdy (Bryan), Amy Barksdale (Brain); 4 great grandchildren, Annalise Moreland, Hudson Moreland, Sayde Grace Moreland, Harper Hope Kramer.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Mark Colbert.
