Herbert Ingram passed away June 4, 2024 at NMMC-Tupelo at the age of 86. He was born August 10, 1937 in Eupora to the late Hugh Ingram and Mary Elizabeth Hood Ingram. He graduated high school from Alva, MS. He was a career dairyman for Miller Brothers Dairy in West Point, MS and Barber’s Pure Milk Company Tupelo, MS. He had a second career as a deputy sheriff, serving under Laddie Huffman and the currant sheriff, Eddie Scott. He was a Deacon at Calvary Baptist Church, as well as a youth Sunday School teacher throughout the 1970’s. He always enjoyed interacting with the youth and took a true interest in them. He was also a huge supporter of West Point GreenWave athletics and American Legion baseball teams.
He is survived by his 2 sons, Phil Ingram (Joni) of Steens, Brian Ingram (Kim) of Tupelo; 4 grandchildren, Chance Ingram (Hillary), Jessy Barney (Michael), Savannah Harrell (Bryan), Chloe Moore (Griffin); 3 great grandchildren Chip Ingram, Colt Ingram, Graham Harrell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Peggy Ingram; 5 brothers, Gwen Ingram, Charlie Ingram, Fid Ingram, Ralph Ingram, Ervin Ingram; 2 sisters, Mary Sue Kilpatrick, Frances McQuistion.
Funeral service will be 2 PM Thursday June 6, 2024 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Wiggins officiating and Rodney Johnson directing the music. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Bubba Davis, Michael Barney, Bryan Harrell, Mike Pearson, Griffin Moore, Mike Ingram, Stan Blaylock, and Ken Wilbourne. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy and Stephen Duke, Joe James Miles, Nig Oneil, Herbert Wooten, Rob Wooten, Eddie Scott and the Clay County Sheriff’s department, Dan Sheals, Roger Brassfield, Mark Sullivan, entire gang at Tin Lizzy, Jeremiah Staten, Wyliss Kemp, Ronnie Morgan, Leonard Dichiara, Fluid Carr, Brad Petit, Miller Brothers Dairy friends and family, Barbers Pure Milk Company friends and family. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Wednesday at Robinson Funeral Home and 1-2 PM Thursday at the church.
