Jamie L. Thornton (PA) passed away Saturday April 15, 2017 at home surrounded by loved ones at the age of 88. He was born November 27, 1928 to George and Callie Kennedy Thornton in New Albany, MS. He was a member of Siloam Baptist Church. He was a farmer, truck driver, mechanic, a good hardworking, honest Christian man. He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be Monday April 17, 2017 at 2 PM at Siloam Baptist Church with Rev. James Moore, Rev. Larry Dunlap and Rev. Doran Henry officiating. Burial will follow in New Harmony Cemetery in Union County. Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Thornton, Kevin Thornton, Van Morris, Daniel Moore, Thomas Borgioli, Dominic Borgioli. Honorary pallbearers will be Caldwell Dunlap, Rhett Dunlap, Ricky Adair, Alan Gates, Drake Mullen, Joel Moore, Ray Merrick. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Sunday April 16, 2017 at Robinson Funeral Home.
He is survived by his 4 children, Kay Coggins (Theo) of West Point, Gene Thornton (Kathy) of Okolona, Diane Moore (Jym) of Orange, TX, Eddie Thornton (Claudia) of Saltillo; 7 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren. He loved and enjoyed them all.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 66 years, Jeanette Dunlap Thornton; brother Hayward Thornton who gave his life on the Arizona at Pearl Harbor; sister, Doris Stanton.
