Jesse Lee Blankenship, Jr. passed away January 5, 2022 at NMMC-West Point at the age of 87. He was born January 21, 1934 to the late Rivers Carradine Blankenship and Jesse Lee Blankenship. He worked at B&W as a welder/fitter for 28 years. After retirement he devoted himself to care for his wife, whom he was married to for 69 years. He was a devout Christian and family man. He was a founder of Lone Oak Baptist Church. He was an avid walker, walking 4 miles every day.
He is survived by his son: Michael Blankenship of West Point; daughters, Sharon Leigh Bethany (Frank) of Bartlett, TN, Rosemary Brown (Steve) of West Point; 6 grandchildren, Mandi Wilkerson, Kelly Butler (Justin), Tyler Weston (Jennifer), Ryan Weston (Hannah), Steven Brown, Jr, Sean Brown; 9 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Marcell Blankenship; brother, Harold Wayne Blankenship, sister, Bobbie Sue Horner.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Saturday at Robinson Chapel with Rev. John Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Horner, Ron Horner, Steven Brown, Jr, Sean Brown, Tyler Weston, Ryan Weston, Christopher Swailes, Sam White. Visitation will be 12-2 PM Saturday at Robinson Funeral Home.
