Jimmie Wedell Martin

Jimmie Wedell Martin passed away Tuesday July 3, 2018 at his daughter’s residence at the age of 87. He was born June 21, 1931 to the late Charlie and Elizabeth James Martin. He was a veteran of the US Navy and served in the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW.

Funeral services will be 3 PM Friday July 6, 2018 at Hope Baptist Church in Philadelphia with Rev. Dennis Duvall and Rev. Scott Griffin officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Hope Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Keith Massey, Tom Martin, Joe Martin, Tim Martin, Heath Donahoo, Austin Donahoo. Honorary pallbearers will be Jamie Bryan, Jeff Summers, Dr. Ed Miller, Dr. Ned Miller, NM Medical Home Health Nurses and aids, NM Medical Hospice Nurses and aids, 600 Volunteer Fire Department, Kenny Mims, Billy Mims and Greenville Paint and Glass employees, and Yolanda Sparks.

Visitation will be Thursday 5-7 PM at Robinson Funeral Home. The body will lie in state at Hope Baptist Church from 2 PM to service time Friday.

He is survived by his daughter, Paula Martin Massey (Dr. Ren Jr.) of Cedar Bluff; sisters, Dottie Wallace of Gulfport, Charlene Clark of Philadelphia; 5 grandchildren, Laura Donahoo (Heath), Heather Tanksley, Keith Massey, Kimberly Bryan (Jamie), Renah Stewart (Phil); 9 great grandchildren, Morgan Cook, Kaley Harris, Phillip Stewart, Ashton Richardson, Piper Massey, Kaitlyn Donahoo, Austin Donahoo, Cooper Massey, Ellie Donahoo; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dottie Jean Ellis Martin; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Steve Tanksley; sisters, Inez Martin, Mary Yates; brothers, Julius Martin, Lucian Martin, Roy Martin, Paul Martin.
