John Winfred Davidson passed away Sunday January 28, 2018 at his residence in Columbus at the age of 100. He was born March 16, 1917 in Nashville, TN to the late Mamie Hall and John W. Davidson, Sr. He was a mechanic and air break inspector for N,C&ST Louis Railway for many years. He retired from the railway and worked for United Technologies as a tool and die maker. He loved collecting watches and flashlights.
Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM Thursday February 1, 2018 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Columbus with Rev. Sarah Windham and Chaplin Betty Wyatt officiating. Visitation will be 10-11 AM Thursday at the church. A private burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be his sons and grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be East McDonald’s coffee break, retirees of United Technologies, Jeanette Brown, Jeanette Smith, Debbie Kelly, Shelia Henley, Laura McCrary, Shameka Jackson, Annette Bradley.
She is survived by 3 sons, Edward Davidson of Neodesha, KS, Philip Davidson of Starkville, Steve Davidson of Nashville, TN; 4 daughters, Judy Ashmore of West Point, Rachel Rinks of Pascagoula, Dot Barickman of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Kitty Davidson of Jacksonville Beach, FL; 16 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley Davidson; son, Rodger Davidson; brother, Thomas G. Davidson; grandson, Matt Taylor.
