John Ralph Hazlewood passed away Monday, July 6, 2015 at Dugan Memorial Home at the age of 91. He was born February 20, 1924 in Clay County to the late Lallie Mae Langford and Claude Hazlewood. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in WWII and the Pacific Theatres. He was a farmer and a member of First Baptist Church of West Point. He was instrumental in the formation of White Station Fire Dept. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially turkey and deer hunting.
Funeral Services will be at 3 PM Thursday July 9, 2015 at Robinson Chapel with Rev. Lee Gordon and Mr. Barry Sansing and Mr. Jim Murray officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jon Luke Hazlewood, Josh Hazlewood, Mike Dickerson, Ronnie Daniels, Davey Lewis, Carroll, Ellis, John Pembroke. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Young, Barry Sansing, Drake Garrett, Chris Sams. Special thanks to his caretakers, Jamie Walker, Jemeka Johnson, Juanita Tate, and Debra Kelly. Visitation will be from 1 PM to service time Thursday at Robinson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association Mississippi Chapter 1900 Dunbarton Dr. Suite 1 Jackson, MS 39216.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Jewel Hazlewood whom he married July 3, 1942; sons, Larry Hazlewood (Jo) of West Point, Jerry Hazlewood (Teresa) of Tishomingo; daughter, Linda Hazlewood (John Pembroke) of Pass Christian; brother, Richard Hazlewood of West Point; sisters, Carolyn Jones and Claudette Sansing both of West Point; 9 Grandchildren; 13 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Pat Daniels.
