Judge Joseph Taggart

Joseph Miller Taggart, also known by his friends and family as ‘Pappa Joe’, passed away Sunday December 1, 2024, at NMMC-Tupelo at the age of 91. He was born January 5, 1933

in Charleston MS, to the late Mary Louise Criss Taggart and Pettus Miller Taggart. He was a veteran of the US army. He served as Justice Court Judge for 36 years.

 A Memorial Services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday December 17,2024 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Dale Funderburg officiating. Visitation will be 1-2 PM Tuesday at the church. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Faulkner, Sherriff Eddie Scott, Jeff Henry, Mark Cliett, Jimmy Clark, Danny McNamee, Dr. l Posey, and Brad Pettit.

 He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Glenda Taggart; Sons, Joseph Miller Taggart Jr (Carol) of Northport, AL, James Morrison ‘Jimmy’ Taggart of West Point, William Criss Taggart (Sherry) of Starkville, Dean Everette Taggart (Cheryl) of Tuscaloosa, AL, Pettus Cox Taggart of Columbus, Jonathan Charles Taggart (Amanda) of Missouri; daughter, Michelle Taggart White of West Point; sister, Annie Louise Frye of West Point; several grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Robbin Taggart; sister, Sallie Will Taggart; brother, Charles Taggart.
