Karen Breland

Karen Franklin Breland passed away January 22, 2025 at NMMC in Tupelo at the age of 76. Karen was born April 12, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan to Sibyl Ionee Griffin Grace. At the time of her birth, Karen was given the name, Emily Elizabeth Grace. With the untimely death of her mother in 1952, Karen, at the age of 4, was adopted and raised by relatives in Mississippi and took the name, Karen Elizabeth Franklin. 

She loved Jesus, her family and her church, Faith Baptist in West Point. She was a true animal lover and sometimes loved her animals more than people. Karen had a one of a kind personality and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. 

In addition to her mother, Karen was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Morris Grace; her maternal grandparents, John and Florence Griffin and her adoptive father, Paul L. Franklin and his son Paul Franklin, Jr.

A visitation with family and friends will be held from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at Faith Baptist Church with a service to follow at 2:30 PM. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in West Point. Pallbearers will be Keith White, Nolan White, Chase White, Tim White, Brody Crawford, Logan Crawford, Zachary Thomas Holland. 

Survivors include her daughters, Regina Breland Holland, Pensacola, FL, Jackie Breland White (Keith), West Point. Five grandchildren; Zachary Thomas Holland, Alaina Morgan Holland, Brenna Estelle Holland-Jackson (Kodiac), Nolan Keith White (Maddie), Chase Thompson White and one great granddaughter, Kalla Estelle Jackson. Karen also leaves behind, her adopted sister, Kay Franklin Oilschlager; a dear cousin, Phyfa Dinsmore Eiland and her brothers, James and Gus Dinsmore.
