Katie Henry Butler, affectionally know to her grandchildren as ‘Grank’, passed away Friday October 4, 2024 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle at the age of 88. She was born February 23, 1936 to the late Abb Morgan Henry and Mary Neely Vickers Henry. She loved Jesus and wanted to share him with everyone. Anyone who spent 5 minutes with her knew she loved teaching God’s Word, and she was a faithful Sunday school teacher for many years. She spoke fondly of all of her family and was the glue that held them together. She worked at Garan Inc. in Starkville as an inspection supervisor for over 30 years. She resided with her daughter, Barbara and Tommy Coleman for 39 years in Craig Springs community. She loved to cook and was famous for her caramel cakes, and she loved serving others.
Funeral services will be 3 PM Tuesday October 8, 2024 at Friendship Baptist Church in Craig Springs with Rev. Junior Davis and Rev. Jeremy McCrory officiating. Interment will follow in Morgan Chapel Cemetery in Sturgis. Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Pee, Mike Savage, Byron Pickering, Scott Haynes, Bryan Mattison, Morgan Henry, Mark Henry. Visitation with family and friends will be 2-3 PM Tuesday at Friendship Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Coleman (Tommy) of Craig Springs; son, Robert Butler (Louis Strong) of Maben; brother, Jack Henry (Phyllis) of Sturgis; sister, Carol Haynes of Starkville; 7 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Lanelle Russell; sister, Zane Bishop; brother, Abb Henry.
