Leslie Nicole Warren, loving wife and mother, born September 14, 1979 in Columbus, MS to the late Roger Swindol and Patricia Strobel Swindol. She peacefully left her life on this earth Friday, May 24, 2024 at Tupelo North Mississippi Medical Center at the young age of 44 with her husband, Matt, by her side.
It was no surprise to her family and friends that Matt never left her side as she received medical care. The young couple spent 27 years in a loving, committed relationship, nearly 22 of those years in marriage. From high school proms to church leadership to parenthood, they were an amazing team, and their love for God, others, and each other inspired many.
Leslie worked as a Cosmetologist for over 20 years. Her coworkers and clients never described her as just a hairdresser. She was a friend and a faithful encourager to anyone who sat in her chair. She listened empathetically, told detailed, heartfelt stories to spread joy, and shared tears and laughter with each and every one of them. Who Leslie was in her career was a perfect reflection of who she was as a person: dedicated, talented, warm, and serving.
Leslie’s love for others was undeniable in all she did in life. She and Matt dedicated years of their lives to the foster care system where they short-term fostered one child, and long-term fostered and adopted their two beautiful children. Leslie’s parenting choices even reflected her servant heart in simple ways. She was committed to teaching her children to give in the way she chose to give, even on their birthdays. At their parties, she would ask guests to bring canned goods for the local food pantry in lieu of gifts for the children.
Leslie’s commitment to others was shown through church leadership and foreign mission trips over the years. She also served as a “classroom mom” and was always ready to jump in and help out with her children’s activities both at school and extracurricular. In recent years, Leslie’s service with West Point Junior Auxiliary was notable. She had recently been appointed Vice President of the chapter because of her commitment to serve, her people skills, and her organizational skills.
To know Leslie was to love Leslie. This was evident in the outpouring of support her family was shown during her final days receiving medical care. Every nurse who cared for Leslie was moved by her impact on those around her.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are: her husband Matt Warren of West Point, son Clark (7), and daughter Carla June (6); her mother Patricia Swindol of West Point; her sister Ashlie West (and husband Jeff and 4 children) of Petal; her father-in-law Alvis Warren and mother-in-law Diane Warren of West Point; and a host of other relatives and close friends. Leslie was preceded in death by her father, Roger Swindol, who passed away in 2023.
