Mary A. Belfanti, age 64, of Upper Arlington, passed away following a brave fight with cancer at Kobacker House on Friday, January 29, 2016 with family by her side. She was born November 23, 1951 in Gadsden, Alabama, daughter of the late Henry and Eloise (Clarke) Apperson. She was raised in West Point, Miss. and received a Bachelor’s degree from Mississippi State University. Mary retired as an intake specialist from the Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Michael J.; children, Clark Belfanti and his wife, Beth Martin and Marietta Belfanti; sister, Priscilla (Omer) Berry, Eads, TN; brother, George (Genie) Apperson, Mansfield, LA; other relatives and many friends. Besides her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her brother, Henry Apperson, Jr. Mary’s passion was working with developmentally disabled children, and she did at both Windermere Elementary and Upper Arlington High School. She was an active member of Riverside United Methodist Church. Mary always found the good side of anything, was witty with a good sense of humor and proud of her Southern heritage. She loved spending time with her children and enjoyed tending to her flowers.
Mary also had a crafty side as she loved growing and decorating gourds.

Funeral service will be held 10:00 am Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Riverside United Methodist Church, 2701 Zollinger Rd., with Rev. David Griebner officiating. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery in West Point, Mississippi.
