Mary Davis Carothers of West Point passed away on Monday January 9, 2012 at her residence at the age of 101. She was born March 13, 1910 in Okolona to the late Mary Carpenter and James Davis. She was a retired school teacher and a member of First United Methodist Church. She was a lifetime member of Jr. Auxiliary and a director for teen town for several years.
Funeral services will be Thursday January 12, 2012 at 11 AM at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff Shannon officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in West Point. Visitation will be Thursday January 12, 2012 from 10-11 AM at the church. Pallbearers will be Clif Carothers, James Carothers, III, Bob Carothers, Chuck Carothers, Chamberlan Carothers, Bill Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be Bennie Hitt, Tim Turman, E.C. Jones, Cliff Miller.
She is survived by 2 sons, James Gipson Carothers (Wiss) of Norton, Ohio, Eugene Davis Carothers (Fran) of Hattisburg; daughter, Mary Gene Martin of Bell, FL; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James Carothers, Sr.
