Mary Ward

Mary Fern Ward passed away Friday October 25, 2024 at her residence at the age of 90. She was born March 25, 1934 to the late Noel Riley And Virgie Harpole Kornegay. She was a member of Siloam Baptist Church where she loved to sing in the church choir. She also enjoyed sewing and gardening. In her later years, she enjoyed playing dominoes and phase 10, and became very good at it.

 Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Monday October 28, 2024 at Siloam Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Blair and Rev. Bill Duncan officiating. Visitation will be 10-11 AM Monday at the church. Burial will follow in Palo Alto Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be William Sullivan, Joey Jackson, Shelton Dean, Tim Golson, Homer Duke, Jr, Luke Lummus. Honorary pallbearers will be Earl Randle, Tyler Barnett and her faithful caregivers: Rose Ann Wilson, Jean Randle Morton, Cassie Sistrunk, Jeanette Scott, Lauren Duke, Carolyn Ward, and Betty Ward.

She is survived by her sons, Richard Glen Ward (Betty), Kenny Ward (Doris); brother, Charles Kornegay (Lula); sister-in-law, Kathryn Ward; 2 grandchildren, Curt Ward (Courtney), Carolyn Ward; great children, Walker Ward and Anna ‘Kitty’ Ward.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William 'Bud' Ward; brother, Carol Kornegay; sisters, Alice Rawlings, Faye Brown, and Ann Clay.
