Richard Glen McBrayer, 78, of West Point passed away Friday October 3, 2014 at NMMC-West Point. He was born April 25, 1936 in Kemper County to the late Escar Eugene and Nannie Eaves McBrayer. He worked for Southern Natural Gas for 37 years. He was a member and a Deacon of Calvary Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for 42 years. He was a Mason, Past Master of Lodge 159, Shriner at Hamasa Temple and owner of McBrayer Quick Lube and Captian D's in West Point.
Services will be Monday October 6, 2014 at 2 PM at Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. James Towery officiating. Burial will take place in Dry Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Daniel McBrayer, Macon McBrayer, Michael Watkins, Dr. Hal Posey, Jimmy Busby, Jeff Holcombe. Honorary pallbearers will be Pat Husbeth, Joe Wray, Hester Smith, Keith Holton, Johnny Hancock, and his visiting friends at the Quick Lube.
Visitation will be Monday October 6, 2014 from 11 AM to service time at Calvary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nancy Shepard McBrayer of West Point; sons, Steve McBrayer (Patty), Chris McBrayer (Gay), Keith McBrayer (Nicole) all of West Point; brother, Cecil McBrayer of Weatherford, OK; 5 grandchildren, Daniel McBrayer, Meg McBrayer, Macon McBrayer, Laura McBrayer, Will McBrayer; Great-grandson, Brody McBrayer.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers, Royce McBrayer, Boyce McBrayer, Bill McBrayer.
