Ruth Betts Vickers passed away peacefully at Tranquility Hospice in Austell, GA on Sunday April 29, 2012 at the age of 95. She lived in the Starkville, MS area most of her life. She was married to Thurman Betts until he died in 1982. During those years she was a wife, mother, and homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, growing beautiful flowers, and being surrounded by family and friends. In 1984 she married Paul J. Vickers. They were married for fifteen years and lived in Cedar Bluff, MS until his death in 1999. She continued to live in Cedar Bluff until 2009. She then moved to Georgia to live with her daughter, Bobbie.
Funeral services will be Tuesday May 1, 2012 at 2 PM at Siloam Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Smith and Rev. Payton Myers officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Garden Park in Starkville. Visitation will be Tuesday from12:45 PM to service time at the church.
She is survived by her daughters, Bobbie McAdams of Acworth, GA, Donnelle Smith of Leesburg, FL; her grandchildren, Damon McAdams, Karen Permenter, Richard Smith, Jerry Betts and Teresa Long; eight great grandchildren,Daniel, Caroline and David Permenter, Alexis and Brooke Smith, Riley Betts, Aubrey and Alyssa Long; three step children, George Vickers, Carolyn Lott, Douglas Vickers; several step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, and a step great-great grandchild; Brother, Paul Cloyce Ferguson of AR.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, and a son Wayne Betts.
