Ted Michael Judson passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his wife and sons early Thursday morning, July 13, 2023, at the age of 70. He was born in West Point on April 9, 1953, to the late Nancy and Henry Judson.
Following in his father’s footsteps, he farmed soybeans and wheat until his late 30’s when he was hired as a fireman at the West Point Fire Department. He graduated from the Mississippi State Fire Academy when he was 40 years old and served as an EMT/Fireman while he taught CPR certification as well as Ambulance Driving, Dispatcher Communications, and worked with Volunteer Firemen. He especially enjoyed teaching local 3rd graders fire safety tips for many years. His last role was Fire Inspector in which he helped local businesses and manufacturing facilities meet fire safety codes. He retired in 2020 after 29 years of service.
Ted faithfully served his church, First Christian Church, as a” jack of all” trades, directing the proper maintenance and updates of the church buildings and parsonage throughout the years.
Funeral Services will be 11 AM Saturday July 15, 2023, at the First Christian Church with Rev. Eric Ross officiating. A burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Leon Kelley, Kenneth Wooten, Reggie Gardner, Heath Donahoo, Robbie Koch and Allen Flynt. Honorary pallbearers will be the leaders of the First Christian Church. Visitation will be from 9:30-11 AM Saturday at the church.
He is survived by his wife Janet Mize Judson of West Point; sons, Daniel Lucas Judson (Sarah) of West Point; Matthew Mize Judson (Jessica) of Sebring, Florida; his brother, Mark Judson (Sara) of Lake Charles, La; his sister Deborah McGaughy of West Point; Diane Hubbard (Tom) of Mooresville, Indiana; and four grandchildren: Emma Judson, Sam Judson, Maggie Judson, and Eleanor Judson.
