Obituary of John McTaggart

John McTaggart

 

          John Edwin McTaggart passed away Monday April 15, 2019 at his residence at the age of 86. He was born August 27, 1932 in Kankakee, Illinois to the late Frances Yvonne Martin and Edwin Charles McTaggart. He was a veteran of the US Navy and served in the Korean Conflict.

            Services will be at 10 AM Wednesday April 17, 2019 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Binh Nguyen officiating. Burial will follow in West Point Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons, John Cunningham, Lucas McTaggart, Matthew McTaggart, Randle McTaggart, Kaleb McTaggart, Benjamin McTaggart, Jeremiah Elliott, Jeb Elliott, Jack Elliott III, William Elliott, Daniel Elliott, Augustine Elliott, Will Lummus, Alex Lummus, John Thomas McTaggart. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 PM with a Rosary at 7 PM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The body will lie in state 1 hour before service time Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Immaculate Conception Church 26707 E Main St. West Point, MS 39773.

                He is survived by 8 children, Debbie Cunningham of West Point, Dale McTaggart of Ft. Pierce, FL, Donald McTaggart (Roxanne), Barbara Elliott (John), Kathy Elliott (Jack), Susan Lummus, (Luke), Carolyn Lummus (David), Tommy McTaggart (Bernadette) all of West Point; 4 brothers, Jerry McTaggart (Joanne), Wayne McTaggart, Joe McTaggart (Kay), Bob McTaggart (Jan); 5 sisters, Collette Stirling, Lois Jacobsgaard, Karen Shipley, Linda Laplante (Bob), Nancy Germany (Kirt);  28 Grandchildren; 26 Great Grandchildren.

            He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rosalyn McTaggart; grandson, Kevin McTaggart; granddaughter, Bobbi Jo McTaggart; son-in-law, Gary Cunningham.
