Obituary of Margaret Nightingale

Margaret Schmidt Nightingale was born August 10, 1941, at Cement, Oklahoma, the daughter of Ben and Elda Schmidt. She passed to her eternal reward on February 19, 2021, at Windsor Care Center in Columbus, Mississippi reaching the age of seventy-nine years. Margaret received her elementary education at Freeman Country School. She gave her heart to the Lord and was baptized November 28, 1954 by Uncle Abe D. Koehn. She was joined in marriage to me, Kenneth Nightingale, on February 25, 1968. We enjoyed nearly fifty-three years together. We lived in Clarksdale, Mississippi for the first year of our life and then moved to Chickasha, Oklahoma where we stayed until 1974. We relocated then here to West Point, Mississippi where we lived the rest of our married life. Margaret was a homemaker and also enjoyed doing house cleaning for different ones. Due to declining health, she stayed close to home the last few years. She did what she could to make our home a happy place. Margaret was a caring, unselfish person. She was witty and her responses added spice when in conversation. She was interested in what others did, making them feel wanted. Her faith was important to her. She enjoyed Sunday School, being active in the discussion. She was willing to pray with me in my times of sickness. When I went through challenges in my Christian journey, she was there to give me the strength I needed. We were able to be open with each other in our experiences of life. She faced the health challenges of the past several years with courage. She leaves me, her sorrowing husband Kenneth; three brothers: Edward Schmidt, Moundridge, Kansas; Clyde and Rose Schmidt, Cement, Oklahoma; David and Diane Schmidt, Chickasha, Oklahoma; three brothers-in-law: Dennis and Marlene Nightingale, Stover, Missouri; Robert and Judine Nightingale, Barron, Wisconsin; James and Charlotte Nightingale, Chickasha, Oklahoma; four sisters-in-law: Lucille Huber, Phoenix, Arizona; Nadine and Husband, Marvin Friesen, Montezuma, Kansas; Judy Nightingale, Brooksville, Mississippi; Faith Nightingale, Hazelton, Idaho; seventeen nieces and fifteen nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, four brothers-in-law, one sister-in-law, two nieces, and two nephews. The funeral service will be held on February 23, 2021, at West Point Mennonite Church, West Point, Mississippi. Ministers Mark Koehn, Marc Schrock and Deacon Charles Koehn presided. Burial will be in West Point Memorial Gardens, West Point, Mississippi.
